I had no idea that the number one female arm wrestler in America resided right here in Jacksonville. Meet Beth Westberry. Westberry currently holds the number one title in the U.S for women competing in the World Armwrestling Federation. She is going on to represent team USA in the World Armwrestling Championship held in Veliko Turnovo, Bulgaria.
Westberry recently had a competition table set up at a Female Roller Derby event I was covering as part of my freelance work. I decided to take her on myself. Okay, let’s just say that the final results did not hedge in my favor. Okay, let’s just say that I didn’t win. Okay, let’s just say that she defeated me within a fraction of a second.
Be looking for my “Five Questions” segment with Westberry in the pages of Folio Weekly in the coming weeks.
Here is the humiliating visual evidence of Westberry making quick work of me.
For all of the women who have ever hated me, please enjoy…

Hi Rich!
I’m Beth’s mama, Kathy Westberry. I work at the University of North Florida. We get Folio Weekly here and everyone just loved the 5 questions article on my little girl!
Beth is a pretty special girl, and so is her brother, coach, mentor, trainer, Chuck. I have one more, Pam, but she is their cheerleader and doesn’t arm wrestle. She has a little boy though…..it could happen!
Beth did not end up going to Bulgaria. Casey Martin, 2nd in the Nation(you may have met her at the Skate thing), is leaving tomorrow. Beth didn’t have the funds or the time off from work to be able to go. Next year the World match is scheduled to be in Canada and the year after in Italy! I might have to be her chaperone!
The Florida State tournament is in December at the Mudville Grille out on Atlantic Blvd. Always a good time and the Westberry’s are definitely the hometown darlings! Maybe you can make it out to that event!
Thanks again and beef up! You know she’ll want to try you again should you run into each other again!

I currently reside right down the road from Mudville, so I will certainly have to make it out to that. Your “little” girl is awesome!
